The “Open sea” group aims at making and using photography for promoting the values of civil society, promoting the cultural heritage and to presenting the Kaliningrad region. The group forms a collective image of the region and the Baltic Sea region.
Cooperating with other regional organizations and those from the Baltic states, the group holds art and socially-oriented events. “Open sea” is planning to implement educational projects in the field of culture and art.
“Open sea” has a sheer experience in organizing and holding solo and group photo exhibitions, study visits, workshops, publishing books. Past activities include the organization of a study visit to Denmark for the staff of Kaliningrad cultural institutions (1999), the photo exhibition “Open sea” in the Museum of the World Ocean (Kaliningrad) and the Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein (Kiel) in 2003-2005, an exhibition of Kaliningrad photographers in Studio im hochhaus (Berlin) in 2003-2004, such exhibitions as “Photo Chronicles of Kaliningrad” at the Kaliningrad Art Gallery (2005), “Kaliningrad – a changing city” at the Nordic Council of Ministers (Copenhagen) and the Institute of Nordic Countries (Helsinki) in 2007-2008; the photo exhibition “Someone Near” in the Palce of Festivals and Congresses in Cannes in the framework of the Days of Culture of the Kaliningrad region (2008). The group’s publishing activities
include production of the books by the Kaliningrad photographer Dmitry Vishemirsky “Atonement for Königsberg” (2008) and “Kaliningrad. Welcome!” (2009).
The “Open Sea” group is interested to cooperate on joint exhibitions as well as art and socially-oriented projects dealing with photography.
