The Kaliningrad Union of Photo Artists is the only organization in the region which brings together professional photo artists. The Union aims to promote the art of photography by means of organizing and holding exhibitions, festivals, workshops and publishing photo albums. The organization carries out educational activities in the field of photography art and possesses a unique historical and contemporary archive. The Union annually holds the Photo workshop on the Vistula Spit for photographers. Besides, it serves as an umbrella organization for the local Photo club and School of Photography.

Since 2003 the Kaliningrad Union of Photo artists has held the largest regional photo project “Baltic Biennale of Photography “Photomania”. “Photomania” is an international festival of photography consisting of an open contest-exhibition, non-competitive photography and multimedia projects, workshops on the history and theory of photography.

The competition program of the festival traditionally involves authors from all Russian regions as well as from Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and other countries. The project is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Kaliningrad region, the Russian Union of Photo Artists and the Kaliningrad Art Gallery.

In different years such institutions as the Kaliningrad Branch of NCCA, the Kaliningrad Museum of Amber, the Museum of the World Ocean and the German-Russian House were project partners.

The Kaliningrad Union of Photo Artists is interested to develop cooperation with Russian and international partners in implementing joint exhibition, educational and publishing projects in the field of photography.
